Children’s Book Review- Fluffy and the Rainbow in his Heart by Tools of the Heart

Fluffy and the Rainbow in his Heart

When sadness takes over the mind, we should look for the rainbow within our heart to lead us back to our calm place. Meditation and finding your inner calm are the themes of Fluffy and the Rainbow in his Heart— book two of an endearing children’s picture book series by Tools of the Heart.

Mother Earth and Father Sun (from book one of the Tools of the Heart book series) begin to worry when parts of their precious garden become sad. Father Sun makes it his mission to investigate the problem and finds a very sad little squirrel named Fluffy. With love in his heart, Father Sun helps to comfort Fluffy, and teaches him about the rainbow of wisdom in his heart– and how to replace the dark clouds with joy.

Father Sun takes the little squirrel to a serene waterfall and teaches Fluffy to inhale and exhale his breath slowly while listening to the beauty of the water falling nearby. Fluffy takes long deep breaths and begins to feel much better. A helpful elf appears and says to him, “Imagine yourself at the top of a staircase… Go down the stairs slowly… 3 … 2… 1… There, in front of you, is a door and we will open it together to discover a wonderful place.”

The sweet little squirrel listens to his new elf friend who then instructs him to imagine himself in a wonderful garden. Fluffy begins to imagine the most beautiful garden and takes his time exploring it in his mind. He is then overcome with a feeling of love. The elf reminds his furry friend, who is now feeling much better, that whenever he begins to feel sad he can always revisit his special garden in his heart.

“The light of your rainbow of wisdom will help you push away the dark clouds. Even if you cannot see it, this light is always there in your heart.”

Fluffy and the Rainbow in his Heart ends with wonderful guided tasks for children and their caregivers to follow so they too, like Fluffy the squirrel, can learn to meditate and find their joy.

Thoughts and emotions can take up a lot of space in our mind, and create different feelings in our heart… sometimes unwanted or unnecessary. Meditation provides a calm and safe space to observe, minimize or dissipate them.” – Patrick Arguin, Tools of the Heart Children’s Book Author
