Amanda Marie Cottrell— a gifted children’s author and illustrator from Calgary, Alberta, Canada– uses inspiration from her 12 plus year career as an educator to create beautiful, mindful children’s picture books. Her passion is teaching young children and utilizing creativity within the classroom in order to assist children to believe in themselves through connection, which is also the aim of her books.
She was inspired to write children’s books to enhance written and unwritten curriculum in elementary school classrooms. Through her years of experience teaching, she noted that kids need support to express themselves in mindful ways when faced with difficult situations and emotions.
Amanda, a yoga and mindfulness enthusiast, uses her knowledge of yoga and mindful practices to guide her stories while getting kids up and moving to connect to themselves on a deeper level.
Her newest release is I Am Empathetic which provides children relatable images and situations in order to teach them how they can embrace and practice empathy in their lives.
